Top 6 Things You Need To Be Doing On Facebook to Increase Your Brand

January 26, 2015

FBHere’s a good idea: stop trying to “get the word out.” If you think the only problem your brand is facing is visibility, then you’re wrong. Visibility is part of the problem. There are simply too many brands out there right now.

In short; stop thinking of Facebook as an advertising tool, and start thinking of it as an opportunity to interact with your fans, customers and prospects. Think of Facebook as a two-way street and you may be surprised at how well that pays off. Here are six things you can do create a more effective Facebook campaign right away:

1. Have a Voice

Have a voice, have a personality, and use Facebook to express it. “We’ve got two for one margaritas on Saturdays” is not distinctive. “Bring your best girlfriends and get tipsy with our two for one margaritas!” is a little more fun. Be distinctive, don’t just share information, share a personality.

2. Provide “Miss-able” Content

The most important question for advertising today: if you stopped creating new content, would you be missed? If the answer is no, then head back to the drawing board.

3. Seek Those in Need

The most successful brands tend to cast themselves in the role of “helper.” We use iPhones because they help us find nearby restaurants, talk to our friends, and waste time when waiting in a long line. Put your message in front of those who need you, ignore everyone else.

4. Be Remarkable

Remarkable doesn’t just mean “great,” it means something that justifies making a remark. The stuff that spreads, that gets shared and reblogged is remarkable. Create content that is worthy of a share.

5. Keep it Short

Keep your Facebook posts and comments short and sweet. If you wait six sentences to get to the point, your prospects won’t make it that far.

6. Play to Identity and Self-Image

Give an existing customer a code to download your app for free and they’re probably going to share it with somebody. Why? Two reasons: First, that’s what good friends do. Second, that’s what good friends do. Here’s what we mean by that: They share it because they want to be generous to their friends, but they also share it because they want to appear to be generous to their friends. Keep this in mind: Pretty much anything anyone does on Facebook is an act of social positioning. They’re playing the same game you are, but as a person rather than as a brand. Help them express themselves and they’ll help you do the same.

What are your thoughts, what did we miss if anything?
