3 Reasons to Have Started Your Email Marketing Yesterday

March 15, 2015
Is Email Marketing Important?

In my last article, I outlined 25 steps for you to take to get your email marketing started this week after I discovered the big email marketing mistake I’d been making for 4 years. In that article, I also included several reasons why you should be adding email marketing to your to-do list if it’s not on there.

These reasons to start your email marketing include

  • increasing your sales
  • boosting your contests
  • boosting your branding
  • bringing back past customers and clients
  • educating current customers and clients
  • establishing yourself as an industry ‘expert’ or authority
  • saving on paper and printing
  • expanding your network
  • expanding your audience

I’d Been Missing These Opportunities.

Are You?

I want all of these benefits for my business! When I think about the traffic I get to my blog and the lost opportunities, it makes my head spin. So today, not only do I want to remind you (again!) to get your email marketing started, I also wanted to give you 3 compelling reasons to have started it (March 16, 2015)!

3 Compelling Reasons To Have Started Your Email Marketing (March 16, 2015)

1) Email marketing give you a direct communication line to your past, present and potential customers. No need to depend on algorithms or newsfeeds. No ad money is needed to immediately reach those who have already expressed an interest in you and your business. You can promote, teach, offer, share stories, show new products and more.

2) Email marketing gives your (past, present and potential) customers a direct way of reaching out to you. What’s easier for them then hitting ‘reply’? You are keeping yourself and your business on their mind and in their inbox, and at the same time working on your brand recognition!

3) It’s so personal! You and your message arrive wherever and whenever that person might be; in their home, at their kitchen table, while waiting for coffee to brew… In a way, by (your message) arriving via email, you get to be part of their day and their routine. This is especially true if you sent out your newsletter at the same time and day each week/month. (Thank you to April Woodcock for this great tip!) People like making personal connections and building relationship, and we tend to trust those we have a relationship with. And who do people buy from? They buy from people they trust!

To illustrate some of these points, let me share with you some of the things that happened when I sent out my first newsletter last week!

  • I received lots and lots of personal (and positive!) feedback on the newsletter.
  • My Facebook Page got quite a bit more attention and engagement.
  • Several (20+) new people subscribed to my email list. (hiya, new friends!)
  • One past client was excited to read my newsletter and contacted me.
  • Two current clients were impressed and indicated they might need help with their own email marketing.
  • Two colleagues were inspired by my email marketing story and vowed to get on with their own email marketing. (you know who you are, you can do it!)
  • My opening and click-through rates we great, which in turn, encouraged me to keep going.
  • I was included in online conversations about email marketing.
  • Several online friends shared my newsletter to their audience!
  • I created a new Pinterest board called ‘email marketing’ and started to look for pins and articles to add to it. I learned to much!

Phew, and that was only after one newsletter!
