Getting More Human with Digital in 2016

More Human in 2016I believe 2016 will be a HUGE transition year for myself and the way I use digital.

Up until the last couple of months, my goal has been on creating plans to help bring digital technology into our company. The missing part of this goal was being human. I think evaluated platforms like social media and processes like blogging and content marketing from a data standpoint because people need good quality information.

From my experience, I am always looking to connect with great people who can bring a piece of knowledge to the table. I want to connect with a wide array of people from different backgrounds and experiences. Great people find a way to succeed in the industry they work in.

As far as marketing channels, I am looking at digital differently in 2016. My goal is trying to connect more personally, one to one. As I look at technology, I am focusing more on trying to make a good, clean connection with current clients and potential clients. It is critical to stay to connected these days. It is very easy to fall off people’s radar.

Here are some ways I am staying on people’s radar on different platforms:

Email – I am taking the time and really thinking about the message I am trying to communicate. Coming up with a theme first before writing.

Twitter – I am selective in what I retweet and share, but I also do not want to be a robot. I need to relate better with others and show that I, too have a purpose each day.

Linkedin – I need to be open to connect with others by following their blog pages and sharing congratulations on their accomplishments. S t.

CRM – Monitor those people who are coming to our company website and look for ways to drive them toward personal communication through email and phone. Don’t treat contacts as another number.

Blogging – I need to write from the heart and tell people where I am at in a process. People respect people who share their ideas they are currently working on. People who always talk from past experience are holding back some information.

Video – Developing a better purpose and product by focusing on relationships rather than business processes.

Website – I am working with our marketing and IT team on a new website to create a much improved client experience. I have discovered that people will go to different parts of our site because they are easier to navigate and they know what to expect. I need to build on this concept in the future.

Summary:

The goal here is to bridge the gap between networking, client relations and digital. People need to be the focus. Sometimes, I get ahead of myself and focus too much on technology and automation.

The part that is really becoming apparent to me is that I need to make sure I do not take our clients for granted. Clients need to be recognized more than just an account number. Today, it is too easy to look at metrics and only focus on numbers.

For me, I am going to be looking at making our processes more human and trying to build a better experience. I believe through this process I will achieve my goals of the following:

  • Obtaining meaningful metrics
  • Gaining more information from our new clients
  • A focus on the right type of client for our business
  • More meaningful content
  • A personal brand that is more connected to the company
  • More trust and transparency
