The landscape of social media is shifting faster than marketers are able to keep up with it. It seems like just (September 17, 2017) I was adding new people to my Top 8. Now, I’m finding the right pin for my Story and trying to post it when the most people will see it. Keeping up with social media trends and updates is tedious, time-consuming, confusing (sometimes), and almost impossible. Thankfully, we live in a world where information is easily available, and we’re not relegated to going to the library, search the ol’ Dewey Decimal, find the resource, read it, and then learn. (I’ll just peep a reputable blog now, thank you.)
Did you know that 71% of U.S. businesses are using Instagram? Do you think these businesses know how to fully capture their audience’s attention?
How Do Brands Connect With Users?
Brands that stay up to date on industry trends have a better chance of surviving in this digital age than those that simply “exist” and expect everything to be just fine. One of the most important insights brands need to take note of is when their audiences are most active and where. This infographic from SOCi highlights the best time and days to post to social media. As an added bonus, it includes demographic information as well as the most engaging types of content per social media network.
No one has ever said, “If I build it, they will come.” Okay, one ghost voice did in a seminal coming-of-age drama about baseball. But other than that, no social media manager and/or content creator has ever said that. And if they have, they’re sorely mistaken. It’s not enough to just have good content. You have to understand where and when to post it to make sure your engagement levels are up to snuff and your audience is interacting with your efforts.
While there is no catch-all best times and days to post to social media for, say, a specific industry, there are general best practices, like those highlighted in the graphic. Knowing when the general population is most active across different social platforms, who exactly they are, what types of content they are engaging with the most, as well as the sheer volume of people using social media outlets can help fuel strategies anywhere from the corporate to the local level for businesses.
Now the real question is, did I post this article at the right time? We’ll see.
