How to Make the Most of Your Conference Using Social Platforms

May 20, 2015

If you want to create an event that people will know about, a conference in this case, you’ll need to do a bit more than write a press release. However, the means which are at your disposal are much easier to handle and improve than a newspaper – social platforms. Besides, they are a lot cheaper than old methods, like TV ads, perhaps. But, there are a few rules which will enable you to accomplish your goals and avoid possible mistakes, so check them out!

You already need an audience on social media for this to work

You can’t start with this campaign if you already don’t have anything to back it up with. So, if you have a poorly active Facebook page or an inactive Twitter account, you’ll need to devote them some time before the whole event. Invite people to like your page, tweet your tweets and find out more about what you do. This way, when you share your new event, people will actually show interest because they’ll find you familiar.

Be precise when it comes to date, time & place

You don’t want any misunderstandings when it comes to the time, date and place of your event. You need to understand that people don’t really put their unconditional trust in everything they see online, so be very precise. Perhaps you should have these three items in each of your posts in the end of the paragraph; doing this will help remind people and they will find you more trustworthy in a way.

Announce your event a month earlier

Events on Facebook will do the trick. A lot of companies use this as their official way to announce their programs, events and – conferences. Make sure you create an event at least a month earlier and be very careful when you’re filling in the blanks. For starters, your grammar needs to be bulletproof if you want to be taken seriously. After you have checked and double checked everything that you have written, there are a few additional social platform tips and rules you should follow through in order to make the most of it.

Share different types of content

You shouldn’t put your focus on the text only, nor your videos, nor your photos – you need to combine all three types of content in order to provide some kind of variety for your target audience. It’s important to understand that different types of people prefer different types of content, and it’s up to you to enable that to them – your audience.

All your content needs to be previously prepared. So, before you start sharing your event, make some kind of database with everything you plan on posting and schedule your posts according to their relevance. Don’t forget about infographics and banners – they are pretty easy to share and read, and your audience will definitely appreciate them.

Come up with fresh ideas which will attract attention

It’s not true that everything is already seen. There are many new and fresh ways to draw attention to you and your business. If you want people to show interest in what you do, you need to make it interesting. This is why you’ll need to gather your team and do some serious brainstorming before anything goes viral. Primarily, you should determine the goals you’ll want achieved at the end of your conference and do everything according to them, so you don’t wander off. However, before the brainstorming begins, it’s always a good idea to do some research and browse around the internet, because you never know what could inspire you. If you do decide to conduct the whole program according to an example you saw online, make sure you investigate it thoroughly in order to find out what mistakes to avoid and which improvements you can make.

Spreading the world online is much, much easier when compared to the olden ways. With some detailed planning and research, I’m sure you’ll make the most of it, and that your conference will be heard of and widely-visited. I hope you’ll find my suggestion insightful and that you do decide to use them. I’d really like if you would let me know how it goes!
