List posts are one of the most successful content types there is. It’s no secret that there’s a certain magic to putting a number at the front of your posts – it makes the content more digestible, easier to scan, and overall more sharable due to that structure.

But is making a list post a list post enough? We think not. In a recent post on content curation, our team at Siege Media diagnosed what the perfect roundup post looks like – by using data to prove it. The following infographic breaks down the anatomy of a highly sharable list post, from the URL, to the image width, to the type of posts you use within. By implementing its elements, you’ll be well you on your way to a highly successful post.

Perfect-Roundup-Post

As you can see, it’s not as simple as rounding together eight unique resources and centering all the images. A good list post strategy identifies highly shared content, reaches out to those when live, and also formats the content in a way that adds unique value – something not many creating list posts are doing.Even better, if you can tie the post back to search and make best-in-class content, you’ll have not just something to post on your blog – you’ll also have a long-term asset as well.
