Very rarely in business do we get things right first time. Most of the products and services we use every day have been through several revisions to get to where they are today.

The same goes for websites, in 2011 Google ran no fewer than 7,000 A/B tests on their website. Making minor tweaks & changes to find the design that made them the most business.

What Is A/B Testing?

A/B testing involves creating one or more alternatives to a web page. This could include:

  • Changes to the content wording
  • Changes to the colors or overall design
  • Changes to layout

The idea is to then test which version of the web page performs the best. After a period of time you can analyze the results of version A and version B, then run with the most performing.

With A/B testing you can run as many alternative versions as you like, each time making small tweaks to see what changes create a positive impact.

How Can A/B Testing Benefit Your Business?

  • Identify what causes people to leave your website.
  • Identify what prevents people from taking action on your website.
  • Identify which design or ‘version’ creates the most sales.
  • Identify which version creates the most conversions.
