How to Eclipse Your Competitors

— August 21, 2017

Do your competitors shine as bright as the sun? Are you looking for a way to block them out so your customers and prospects give you all their attention (and business)?

Here are three ways to eclipse your competitors.

1. Be Everywhere (Online)

Just like the #Eclipse2017 has been everywhere – from the news to social media – your business needs to be everywhere online, too. A comprehensive digital marketing strategy that includes a paid and organic approach is your best bet to be seen no matter where prospects are searching online. This includes optimizing your website with an SEO strategy, running PPC campaigns, setting up social media sites (and advertising there), and making sure all your listings are accurate and up to date.

2. Offer Something Your Competitors Don’t

You’ve probably heard that those special solar eclipse glasses are in high demand, and people are scrambling to get their hands on a pair. When you offer something your competitors don’t (or can’t), you’re offering prospects a key reason to choose you over your competitors. This doesn’t have to be a tangible offering; it can be something as simple as an excellent customer service experience, a live chat feature on your website, or a great online reputation. Or, it could be an incentive like a referral offer or special event for current customers. Look at your competitors to see what you can do differently to set yourself apart from them.

3. Be Clear About Your Business & What Consumers Can Expect

On the news, they’ve been talking about the best place to view the eclipse and said it pretty much comes down to locations where the weather is clearest. In the same way, it’s important to be clear about what your business does and what consumers can expect. The easiest way to do this is by being consistent across all your digital marketing strategies and by keeping relevance in mind. You want your website to contain clear information about your business and your products or services using relevant keywords. And, you want your PPC campaigns to focus on the most relevant keywords to your business and send users to a landing page that pertains to that specific service line or product. This helps consumers understand your business and what you offer and can help you stand apart from your competitors.
