Finding Remote Work [Infographic]

Just because many jobs have gone remote doesn’t mean you can’t find a job right now. Many businesses are hiring because they have seen an increase in demand for their services, and the beauty of remote jobs is that you don’t even have to be in the same location as the company to work for them. The remote economy is taking off and it’s going to change everything about the future of work, cities, and even broadband access.

In order to make remote work viable there needs to be universal broadband access. This has been on the radar for years but most people don’t think about how uneven broadband access has influenced both the growth of cities and the decimation of rural areas. The push for greater broadband access will allow for economic growth in more rural areas as well as stabilization in housing markets in urban areas as people can access jobs remotely.

This is also a great advantage for both workers and for companies alike. Companies can broaden their access to talent by offering remote positions, while individuals can broaden their job prospects by working for companies that are far from their geographic locations.

The search for remote positions of course requires broadband access. Finding jobs is done online these days on sites like Indeed, Nine2Five, ZipRecruiter, and more.

Job interviews done remotely should still be treated as normal job interviews – be punctual, ensure equipment is working beforehand, and dress professionally.

Build your resume and scan your social media profiles for anything that could be problematic before applying and then get going. There are tons of jobs out there right now, and this may be the career move that makes your career.
