There’s no doubt that blogging offers limitless opportunities for earning sustainable income. But the extent to which you can go is determined by your ability to learn and implement what works and stop pursuing what doesn’t.

Generally, when we talk about blog monetization, the top strategies that readily come to mind are affiliate marketing, sales of information products such as eBook and soft tools, online courses, and podcast.

But these aren’t the only monetization strategies that can fetch you real income. It’s probably because you aren’t looking in the right places or you’re thinking that the other strategies aren’t right for you.

But if you wish to make a lot of money blogging, you simply can’t afford to constrict yourself to certain ideas while shutting the door against other opportunities.

In light of this, I present to you some strategies that also work but which you aren’t paying attention to.

Google AdWords

Google AdWords allows you to rank for certain keywords through paid advertisements. The AdWords program allows you to set a budget for advertising and you only get to pay when people click your ads and it takes them to your website.

When the search engine returns its results for your keyword, it displays your paid search results above the organic search results, and this gives your website a better chance of being seen by web searchers. Once searchers get to your site, you can then use lead conversion strategies to boost your chances of making some money.

However, as easy as this appears, a lot of bloggers can’t seem to make a dime from it because they simply don’t know how to maximize it for profit. But if you play by the rules, your AdWords campaigns will definitely fetch you a decent income. And you can add that to other monetization strategies that you’re currently using.

Membership sites

A membership site is one model that can generate recurring income for your website. It’s all about charging a membership fee in exchange for valuable information and access to premium programs. While ordinary members only have access to freebies, the amount of stuff inside members get would be unlimited.

It could be a recurring membership renewal fee or a one-off payment. What you charge must be commensurate with the amount of value you can provide over a certain period. But to make this work, you need to do a lot of marketing. Offer free trial, send regular emails through autoresponder and show social proofs through testimonials.

Website auction

The way this works is quite simple. Build a blog, create a huge audience, and then sell off the blog. It’s that simple but it requires a whole lot of work. So you’re not just building a mediocre site which in your wild imagination has a lot of potentials. It must be an already successful blog.

There are two ways to make money from this: you could build a site that’s already doing well and sell it when you reach a plateau. Or you could buy high traffic blogs but which seem dormant, and optimize it for more income prospects.

Before Jon Morrow started Boost Blog Traffic which later became Smart Blogger, he had established and sold about three websites which were doing pretty well. But he sold them because he wanted something more impactful and challenging.

Product review

This is very similar to affiliate marketing. But the product review approach is more obvious and specific. It involves publishing reviews about a wide range of products but which belong to similar niche. However, it’s always best to write reviews about products that are related to your website content, which will be useful to your target audience.

In addition, it’s very important to have used the product you’re writing a review about since out of curiosity, your readers might want to ask you few questions about those products. Where this is impossible, at least make a detailed research on the product. A lot of people will trust your judgment and simply buy them since you have an appreciable amount of knowledge about the products.

Freelancing

Freelancing is all about providing a service people are either too busy to do or simply cannot do. So, if you create great content consistently on your own blog, and you have a wide readership, why not help people out with their content challenges.

However, you need to state clearly on your website that you offer such a service. Put a hire me page on your website and describe all the services you can offer. If you wish, you could publish your charges on a specific page or you simply ask them to fill a contact form and thereafter give a quote.

Really, you should test a lot of these strategies according to your blog strength and see the ones that suit you most. These strategies aren’t set in stone.
