Top Organizational Social Causes of 2017

— March 1, 2017

A large number of people feel more compelled to shop with brands that actively try to make a difference in the world. In fact, people have grown to expect brands to get behind social causes and visibly support them – proving it through ‘good’ content, where you see the business actively taking part. Social causes are an important part of our society, as they encourage citizens to help those they would never meet.

And, as brands begin to decline and decay with stale marketing, social causes are an aspect of consumerism that literally everyone can get behind. Without further ado, I bring you 3 awesome organizations that have dipped into the social cause arena with various products that will help people around the world:

Kids’ Fitness

This is a fantastic and innovative project from UNICEF that works to encourage kids to get moving. It has been dubbed a Fitbit for kids by many, counting their daily steps and helping them to keep track. However, with Kid Power band, every step that each kid takes provides a child in need with a therapeutic food packet.

This encourages your child to keep active, but of course helps other kids in needs, and surely can teach your kid a valuable lesson. It has a companion app that it can be paired with on a parental phone, allowing families to go out together on guided adventures that teach everyone a little more about the different cultures in the world, as well as the children within them.

Only one app is needed for the whole family, which helps to keep things organised. The bands are also water resistant and double up as a watch, so they will never lose track of time. It’s an affordable way to have fun and make a social impact as an awesome social cause.

Helping Steps

Toms shoes have worked tirelessly to help change lives across the globe with a pretty cool program which promises to help someone in need with every pair of shoes they sell. They originally started with a charity program which would donate a pair of shoes for every pair that was bought. After receiving a ton of PR, they soon expanded their charitable endeavour to a much wider goal.

It was then named the One for One Model, and they currently have a diverse set of aid that they offer, including eye care for those who are in dire need, as well as safe drinking water for those who don’t have access to it, helping provide a safe child birth, as well as a program to help stop bullying.

Toms support over 700 jobs in four countries, and they have funded over 20 social cause products directly. They are definitely here to make a difference!

Look to the Stars

AWB stands for Astronomers Without Borders. One of the things they want most is to bring the stars to children and allow them to have the opportunity to see them and learn about them from an early age. Of course, telescopes do not come cheap, and they are often incredibly expensive – especially if you want a good quality one. That is where AWB comes in: they bring telescopes to underdeveloped areas in which kids there would never dream of getting to use a telescope!

AWB has worked closely with Celestron to create one of the most magnificent telescopes that have a five-inch mirror. Confused as to what that means? Well, let’s just say that it means that the telescope is incredibly powerful – to the point where you are able to see the rings of Saturn, as well as star clusters and galaxies! (You can forget those glow in the dark solar system stickers!) It’s even portable, so it can be taken around with you just about anywhere.

The social cause behind this product is tremendous – allowing wide eyed children who have never gotten a real glimpse of the solar system to look through a telescope for the first time, and learn about their solar surroundings, is truly breath-taking!

The Importance of Social Causes

Social causes are incredibly important – whether they are there to help others in need, or to give out children better opportunities to find out what they want to do and help them follow their dreams. Of course, if you don’t feel the need to buy a product, you can always perform charitable work elsewhere, or simply donate charity on your smartphone with just the tap of a button. But for the masses who consume products, these social cause products are definitely able to allow people to help others rather easily – whether its by buying a pair of shoes, taking a walk in them, and then taking a gander through a telescope – any of those 3 actions will certainly make someone’s life much better.
