Guiding principles for the new coach

If you have recently taken the role of a coach, you may have your apprehensions on what you can or cannot say to your clients. Being a new coach can be somewhat intimidating, but this is a stage that one must go through. In time you will learn the ways, but as a beginning you will need to remember that the decision to do what is right, in the right way and at the most opportune time will be yourguiding principle.

As a coach you have taken the role of one who gives confidence to others and offers them support. Speaking the truth and living with integrity are characters that you must have which will make you a great person and coach. You will take on the responsibility of guiding your clients to the right path to fulfil their hopes and dreams.

With the onset of new responsibilities, a new coach will discover that his guiding principle is being driven by the strength of his heart. His heart will help him take on his role. He may not realize it at first, but when he does and when he finds the courage to listen to it, it will be the key to his being an effective coach.

Like anyone, a new coach’s confidence and faith will be tested. The beginning will not be an easy path and you may make mistakes on the way. Doing the right thing or staying in the background and not doing anything will be choices one has to make. A new coach will need to face up to his responsibilities and look ahead and be ready for the trials that he will encounter. To be able to motivate your clients a coach must have courage, courage to do what is right and to say what is right. These principles not only help new coaches but those experienced as well. Experienced coaches will be the guiding force and pillars of strength for those starting their careers for they have become what they are through experience, knowledge, strength of character and the right path they have chosen to follow.
