College offers personal finance classes

CRYSTAL LAKE – McHenry County College’s Continuing Education Department is offering a new “Managing Your Money” series of classes to help individuals make smart money decisions.

The following classes are available:

Jobless? A Financial Survival Guide: This course will help people make careful decisions, both personal and financial, focus on new opportunities and show how to bridge the gap between incomes. The class will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 18 in Room A350. Cost is $25. Use course ID: NFM S44 002 to register for this class.

Tough Decisions for Your Home and Creditors: Learn how to deal with foreclosure, short sales, modifications and what to do to save your home. Advice will be given on the do’s and don’ts in working with creditors. Information on local and national resources will be provided. The class will be from 7 to 9 p.m. March 25 in Room A350. Cost is $25. Use course ID: NFM S45 003 to register.

Investment Basics – Becoming a Smart Investor: Discover how to establish the financial health needed to be a smart investor as well as learn the strategies to manage risk and how to maintain a portfolio. The program also will cover what types of investments are used today and the common mistakes to avoid. The class will be from 7 to 9 p.m. April 29 in Room A350. Cost is $25.  Use course ID: NFM S47 004 to register.
